Some weeks ago I noticed Zara strained her eyes every time she's watching the TV. When asked whether she can see from a distance, she hesitated and replied that the brightness from the TV is hurting her eyes. Hmmm ... I suspected she has developed short-sightedness and we've decided to take her for an eye check.
Note to self: when taking a child for an eye check, it is best to bring them in the morning when the eyes are still fresh and alert. We took Zara to see the optometrist after school and the result wasn't accurate because she was already tired and couldn't focus much during the eye test. So, we had to come again in the morning.

The tests confirmed that she is rabun and needed glasses. Her power for both eyes are 50/75. So she is slightly short sighted but she has also developed astigmatism in her left eye of 100. Sigh! Thanks to too much computer games & TV!
